Paleo Chocolate Hazelnut Truffle Recipe

I recently shared my chocolate hazelnut truffle recipe with one of my favourite organic supermarkets in Vaughan, Ontario, Organic Garage. If you’re close by, visit their annual Gluten-Free Fair on May 24th!

A word about the truffles — they are gluten-free,  grain-free, Paleo, dairy-free, egg-free vegan and refined sugar-free. Give them a try when you get that proverbial sweet tooth.

1 1/4 cup natural hazelnuts (works with other nuts)
1 1/4 cup unsweetened dates (pits removed)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 1/2 Tablespoons cocoa powder (also works with cacao powder)
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
3/4 cup natural, unsweetened shredded coconut

1. Grind hazelnuts in a food processor until finely ground.

2. Add dates to food processor. Grind until you have a smooth consistency.

3. In a bowl, add vanilla, cocoa powder and sea salt to your mixture. Stir until combined.

4. Form small 1 inch round balls with your hands and roll in shredded coconut until covered.
